Author Information / Description
TightVNC 1.2.2 Binary Distribution for Windows platforms
========================================================

This distribution is based on the standard VNC source with
modifications introduced in TridiaVNC 1.4.0, and includes new
TightVNC-specific features and fixes, such as additional low-bandwidth
optimizations ("Tight" encoding with optional JPEG compression, "local
cursor" feature), improved WinVNC advanced settings, and more.

Files included in the release:

   Complete TightVNC server:  winvnc.exe, VNCHooks.dll
   TightVNC Viewer:           vncviewer.exe

VNC stands for Virtual Network Computing. It is, in essence,
a remote display system which allows you to view a computing 'desktop' environment
not only on the machine where it is running, but from anywhere on the Internet and
from a wide variety of machine architectures.

This archive is an almost-complete reconstruction of the legendary Mega Security (also known as Kobayashi), a premier 90s-era "Trojan Database" where malware authors once showcased their work. After a decade offline, the site was brought back in August 2024 by its original creator, MasterRat, who authorized the Malware Gallery to host this modernized, searchable version of the collection. While the original site remains available for those seeking a nostalgic, old-school experience, we are proud to continue its legacy here. Full credit and thanks go to MasterRat and the retired Mega Security staff for their years of dedicated work in cataloging these historical samples.
